A chillum needs to be cleaned up thoroughly after smoking. At Smoking Chillum, we give you information on different ways of cleaning smoking chillums. A simple way of cleaning is by running a cloth throughout the chillum. The stone filter should also be taken out. But a more effective method of removing any traces of bacteria, which may be deposited near the chillum’s mouthpiece, is by regularly keeping the chillum soaked in bleached water or alcohol. It should then be rinsed with cold water. Before smoking, chillums should be dried completely. This way you can stop germs from spreading from one smoker to another when chillums are shared.

You can also use any soft object like a toothpick to remove loose pieces of tobacco. But never use any metallic object like a paper clip or a knife and never scratch or chip the glass. Smoke resin or any loose tobacco pieces could be also cleaned by running a few pipe cleaners throughout the chillum. Then gently tap out the chillum so that the crumbled pieces fall out. Keep doing so till there is no trace of any more pieces.
